Keep Your Carving (And Your Workshop) Clean - Which Dust Shoe To Use?

Everyone wants to keep their work area clean, but that can be hard to do with your CNC Router scattering wood chips all over.

So, how do you keep things clean and clear away all that mess? Well, you need a YoraHome Dust Shoe that fits your machine!

But, we have many dust shoes available - Which one to choose?

You may have noticed that we recently released a third style of dust shoe, and may have been asking yourself "Which Dust Shoe Do I Need?".

Let's take a minute and review the Dust Shoe options, so you can make the right choice for your needs.

3018-Pro/Mandrill 3-in-1 Dust Shoe

This was our first release designed to fit our smaller CNC Routers. This dust shoe is designed to fit these machines/spindles:

1. 3018-Pro with standard 775 spindle
2. 3018-Pro with 300W or 500W spindle upgrade
3. Mandrill 3036

This dust shoe include all the parts needed to attach to any of those units, and feature a 1-1/4 inch hose with connector to allow you to attach to a shop vacuum system.

If you purchased one of these machines and then upgraded to a SilverBack or CrossRiver - this dust shoe will fit on the stock spindle, but you may experience clearance issues with the spindle mount on those larger machines.

SilverBack/CrossRiver 2-in-1 Dust Shoe

This dust shoe was designed with the larger machines in mind - greater clearance around the spindle mount, and a larger brush assembly to provide better vacuum suction at the work area.

It will fit both the SilverBack and CrossRiver machines, with one of these spindle options:

1. Standard 500W spindle motor
2. Makita RT0701 router motor (or equivalent router motor with 65mm body)

It includes all the parts needed to attach to these units, along with the 1-1/4 inch hose.

SilverBack/CrossRiver 3-in-1 Dust Shoe

This is our latest release, and is designed for those users who subscribe to the "go big or go home" philosophy.

This is a considerably larger design, with many aerodynamic improvements. This dust shoe will fit both the SilverBack and CrossRiver machines, with one of these spindle options:

1. Makita RT0701 router motor (or equivalent router motor with 65mm body)
2. DeWalt DWP611 router motor (or equivalent router motor with 69mm body)
3. YoraHome VFD Spindle Kit with 80mm body

NOTE - this dust shoe will NOT work with the standard 500W spindle motor, which is a 52mm diameter.

This dust shoe does NOT include a hose, but is designed to allow for use of a standard 2-1/2 inch vacuum hose - so you get considerably more air flow, keeping your work area clean.

Conclusion

All of our dust shoe options include spacer rings to allow for more brush height adjustability, allowing for longer bits, without repositioning the dust shoe.
