After a steep learning curve, I finally finished the first carve on my Silverback. This is a clock for one of my wife’s friends that is retiring. Just put the final coat of polyurethane on it and will then do the final assembly of the clock components.
Overall, I’m impressed with the Silverback and its functionality. Easel was pretty easy to use after a few dozen YouTube videos. Still more to explore.
A big thanks to Daryl Dinkel for all his help and all the rest of the folks on here that chimed in and helped answer all my questions. This is a great group of people.
On to the next carve.

It is very possible to work with thick materials. This piece was rough cut piece of cedar over 3” thick. I used the Silverback to plane it down on both sides to get it where I wanted it. After completing the job it is a 1.75” thickness.

I made this one for all the incredible teachers out there, especially the ones on yorahome fb page. Thank you

I have a bone to pick with Yorahome. Nowhere in any manual or on the website or in any group does it say “OUR PRODUCTS MAY CAUSE DIVORCE”, I can’t find it anywhere atleast ♂️. Anyway, here are some things I made while I was living in my shed this month

This two-dimensional map of Vancouver Island made from Mahogany was explicitly designed for visitors to my local area in Canada. Visitors have chosen this cribbage board for keepsakes to take home. Other folks with strong family ties to this area have also bought this gift. The numerous offshore Islands make this one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Hello everyone, a little over a month ago purchased a Silverback and a 6550pro, I just wanted to say that I’m very happy with my decision to buy both of my machines from YoraHome. As many of you know, there are tons of products out there to purchase, however I believe YoraHome has to have probably some of the best support available. I’ve seen so many questions answered within minutes of asking (Daryl Dinkel), and they are very quick to return or ship something out. With the amount of downloads and videos available, most of my questions have been answered in this group! So I just wanted to say thank you to YoraHome and everyone that has asked a question or posted there work for others to learn from. Here are a few things I’ve made over the last month, thank you! - Feb 18 - Project 1
Shawn N.
I haven't made one of these in awhile, so I figured they are fairly quick to do and an easy seller.
Spalted maple, glued on the bark so it doesnt seperate. Silverback to drill the holes and used the 6550-Pro with YoraHomes Camera mount to position and burn the numbers.
Easy quick setup in vcarve, used the provided layout, and used the peck drilling tool path.
For the laser, slapped down the drilled out board, updated my overlay in lightburn, sized my material, positioned all the characters, set the settings, in this case it was 100in/m at 30%
Then 3 coats of spar urethane.
