The computer needed for use with the YoraHome CNC machines does not need to be a high-end machine. The main purpose of the computer is to transmit the requisite project code to the machine.
If you intend to use the computer for image manipulation using other software such as PhotoShop or CorelDraw, then you will need to refer to the requirements for that particular software package.
Hopefully, this guide will help you identify if your computer will be sufficient for use with our machines.
OPERATING SYSTEMS
RAM (RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY)
RAM is the "short-term" memory for your computer. This allows for multitasking of complex tasks.
We recommend a minimum of 512MB RAM; most modern computers will already exceed that amount.
PROCESSOR SPEED
A processor speed of 2.0 GHz or faster is recommended to avoid computer performance issues.
HARD DRIVE
The software used to control YoraHome machines does not require significant storage space.
However, your images may take up considerable space. Most modern computers will have adequate storage space available.
If using an older computer, we recommend a minimum of 20-30GB storage.
USB PORTS
The CH340 chipset communicates with your computer via a USB connection, so your computer must be equipped with USB ports.
NOTE: The CH340 chipset is not compatible with USB 3.0 ports (also sometimes identified as HD or SS ports). On some computers, these ports will be backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices such as our machines. If you are not sure if your machine is backwards compatible, please contact us for more information.
INCOMPATIBLE DEVICES
Devices that run on ARM processors, or which do not have USB ports, are not compatible with YoraHome machines. These include (but are not limited to):
